"I have seen the Heartaches Razz Band and am presently undergoing
treatment...” - Review by JFC McMaster University
You have found the world's most unique and
unforeseen vaudeville show in existence today... and your life may
never be the same!
Yes, it’s 1938 and the living legends of vaudeville, The Heartaches
Razz Band, starring the lovely and talented Golden Throat, go beyond
filling the bill to choking the bird. Wow!
This is theatre, this is showbiz: '30s jazz played with a contemporary
beat; one that pounds like rock-n-roll but remains jazz, their
jazz. Finely tuned with comedy, tinged with craziness and polished
with the glamour and glitter of Hollywood. This is entertainment,
performed by possibly the insane, or perhaps the brilliant, one can
only guess...
However, one thing remains uncontestable: You have never seen anything
like the Heartaches Razz Band Show before, and you will never forget
it.
Is it a play?
Is it a musical?
Is it a concert?
Is it a hilarious variety show?
Yes to all four.
The Heartaches Razz Band is:
Doug Fraser who portrays the highly overpaid
matinee crooner, the lovely and talented Golden Throat:
idol of millions, the songbird of the West Coast and the heartthrob of
America. Doug Fraser acts, sings and dances his way into the hearts of
dozens. He plays banjo, guitar, ukulele, kazoo, duck call, bass jug
and is unquestionably the world's greatest washboard player.
Ron Davies, aka Ron Richtofen,
actor, singer, upright bass player, upright bagpipe player and
guitarist; a man with more talent in his little finger, than he
has in his index finger.
Jeannie, joined the Heartaches Razz Band as Victoria Vox
for the Coffin Capers Production and refused to leave; vocalist, actor and
keyboard contortionist, she humbly accepts the understated title of
Canada’s greatest keyboard player with her name.
Hugh Milligan, internationally
acclaimed home recording artist, performs as "Prince Milligan". His
new love for jazz is only
exceeded by his loyalty to his mother. He is said to be Queen
Elizabeth’s illegitimate son and a candidate for the British throne.
Percussionist, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, recording artist,
these are all words that he understands. He brings to the stage an
entire set of drums.
